ABOUT JELENA COE
Hello there,
Perhaps I should tell you a few good things about myself, but flattering my own character would make for a rather amusing biography. Instead, maybe my portfolio from Africa says more about my work, and about me, than words ever could.
I love creating photographs and spending time with inspiring people. Choosing photography in 2012 was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made, and I haven’t looked back since. I first truly woke up in Dubrovnik some years ago. These days, I live, work, and make my bed in Belgrade, although my work rarely keeps me in one place for too long.
With a deep interest in both technology and art, my journey into photography began as fascination and slowly evolved into passion. As my skills developed, I learned to look beyond the limitations of equipment and instead focus on vision — opening new dimensions in my creative exploration.
As a photographer, I love dressing fashion into art and art into fashion.
In a time where artificial intelligence can create almost anything, authentic photography becomes even more valuable, because it holds what cannot be generated: a real moment in time. Something that truly happened and was truly witnessed. A real photograph carries energy. A real artist leaves a trace of themselves within the frame. And this is precisely why human-made art continues to matter even more.
To wrap it all up, I’ll borrow the wisdom of someone far wiser than myself: “I tried being normal once. Worst two minutes of my life.”
Yours,
Jelena Coe 💋
